Fun facts about pigs!
• Piglets weigh about 2.5 lbs. at birth and double their weight in just one week! The pigs at The Woodruff Farm now weigh between 55-70 pounds and will weigh about 270 pounds by the start of the county fair.
• Pigs communicate constantly with one another.
• Pigs snuggle close to one another and prefer to sleep nose to nose.
• Pigs are easily trained to walk on a leash, use a litter box, and do tricks!
• Pigs get a bad rap! Although they roll in mud to keep cool, they’re, quite clean. If given enough space, they will be careful not to soil the area where they sleep or eat.
• Pigs are the smartest of all domesticated animals and are even smarter than dogs. They are even considered more intelligent than a 3 year-old human child!
• Pigs have 15,000 taste buds. Humans have only 9,000.
• Pigs have a tremendous sense of smell.
• An adult pig can run up to 11 miles per hour!
• Pigs live on every continent except Antarctica.
